Terrence Dowden was born in Grenada where he completed high school. Mr. Dowden migrated to the United States where he obtained his cosmetology license from Robert Fiancé Hair Design Institute. He also attended Vidal Sasson school in England where he completed advanced courses in hair styling and care.
Terrence Dowden is an innovative, trendy, multi-faceted hairstylist who is daring and risky while focused on extreme healthy hair care. He is the founder and chief executive officer of Level 1 Hair Salon and has been so for the last twenty-five years.
Mr. Dowden’s work was featured in newspapers and magazines in New York City such as Everybody and Sophisticated black hair magazines. Mr. Dowden has been teaching hair care and styling from 1995 to the present.
Terrence Dowden is a member of the National Cosmetology Educational Council (NCEC). NCEC is designed for higher learning in the beauty care profession. Mr. Dowden is an ardent advocate for the homeless and has conducted food and care drives to assist residents of homeless shelters in New York City. The New York City Health and Hospital Corporation and The Brooklyn Health Disparities Center in conjunction with The Arthur Ashe Institute has awarded Mr. Dowden with a certificate of appreciation for his contributions to serving the community.
