Level 1 Beauty Lounge opened on Church Avenue in 1990 with one chair, one stylist, and a simple idea: listen first, then cut. Thirty-five years later the chairs have multiplied and the services have grown well beyond hair, but the first half of every appointment is still a conversation.

The salon is unisex by design. Women, men and children sit in the same room, and the stylists who work here have spent decades learning that a short cut for a man, a fresh set of braids for a teenager, and a color correction for a regular all need the same thing before any tool is picked up — an honest assessment of the hair in the chair. Length, density, previous color, texture and daily routine all change what is realistic, and saying so at the consultation is what keeps a client from leaving disappointed.

What started as a haircut shop is now a full beauty lounge. Alongside precision cuts and styling, the salon runs color and treatments, braiding, wig installations, extensions and weaves, and textured hair services. The nail side covers manicures, pedicures, gel, extensions and nail art. Waxing, body massage and eyelash extensions complete the list, which means a client can sort out hair, hands, brows and lashes in a single visit rather than spending a Saturday driving across three neighborhoods.
